Fantasy Football Fest NYC
Amigos, esta semana no hubo liga premier, pero eso no impidió que tuvieramos un gran momento fantasy fuera de las canchas y de la app. El fantasy football fest, cruzó el charco por primera vez en su historia y aterrizó en Nueva York con gran éxito.
El fantasy football fest que nació en Inglaterra, es un evento organizado por los mismos fans que seguimos la premier y jugamos al fantasy. Se trata de conocer a otras personas que comparten nuestra pasión por el juego, platicar con ellos, jugar y si es posible, ver los partidos juntos. Fest se ha repetido ya varias ediciones en el viejo continente y en esta ocasión los dos anfitriones del programa “Always Cheating” (Josh y Brandon) fueron los organizadores en Brooklyn, Nueva York.
El evento tuvo sus momentos de duda con el fallecimiento de la reina Elizabeth de Inglaterra, lo cual causó que la jornada 7 se suspendiera y a muchos de los asistentes nos creó la duda de si seguiría en pie la fiesta. Por suerte así fue. Y para algunos, la cancelación de los partidos resultó algo positivo para el evento, ya que la falta de fútbol en las pantallas propició la interacción entre los asistentes. Entre ellos la estrella del Fantasy y fundador del sitio fantasyfootballscout.co.uk, Mark Sutherns, quien viajó con el comité organizador completado por Gianni y Ed.
En el evento se grabó un episodio en vivo del programa de “Always Cheating”, con preguntas y respuestas de la comunidad, se jugó play station, se jugó un torneo de futbol rápido, y obviamente se platicó mucho de fútbol, fantasy, wildcards y mucho mas.
Es poco decir que me pasé un rato excelente, conociendo en persona a muchos otros managers, pero particularmente me dió gusto conocer a miembros de la comunidad de #FPLenEspañol. Fue muy grato el platicar con ellos sobre la temporada y lo difícil que está siendo destacar este año, sobre la comunidad, y sobre la posibilidad de traer fest al continente americano una vez más.

Friends, this week there was no premier league, but that didn't stop us from having a great fantasy moment outside the field and the app. The Fantasy Football Fest crossed the pond for the first time in its history and landed in New York with great success.
The Fantasy Football Fest that was born in England, is an event organized by the same fans who follow the premiere and play fantasy. It's about meeting other people who share our passion for the game, chatting with them, playing games and if possible, watching the games together. Fest has repeated for several editions in the old continent and this time the two hosts of the “Always Cheating” program (Josh and Brandon) were the organizers in Brooklyn, New York.
The event had its moments of doubt with the death of Queen Elizabeth of England, which caused game week 7 to be suspended and many of the attendees wondered if the party would continue. Luckily it was. And for some, the cancellation of the matches was a positive for the event, as the lack of football on the screens encouraged interaction between attendees. Among them was Fantasy football star and founder of fantasyfootballscout.co.uk, Mark Sutherns, who traveled with the organizing committee completed by Gianni y Ed.
At the event, a live episode of the "Always Cheating" podcast was recorded, with questions and answers from the community, play station was played, a 5 a side tournament was played, and obviously a lot of the talk was about football, fantasy, wild cards and much more.
It goes without saying that I had an excellent time, meeting many other managers in person, but I was particularly pleased to meet members of the #FPLenEspañol community. It was very pleasant to talk with them about the season and how difficult it is to stand out this year, about the community, and about the possibility of bringing fest to the American continent once again.
